Closing Down Scalable Intimacy

This will be the last post to originate on this blog. It’s really not a big deal, both because SI never really cracked the upper echelon in terms or traffic or subscribers, and because I’ll still be writing on a bunch of other platforms. Going forward all of that content will be available through MikeTrap.com, a simple Tumblr site that will make sharing a lot easier for me. Please take a moment to subscribe if you’re at all interested.

I must admit I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed by the proliferation of social outlets lately. The addition of Google Plus was some kind of tipping point… but now between that and LinkedIn’s new sharing features – on top Twitter’s continued centrality – it’s just too much. My decision a while back to pare back professional contacts on Facebook was a good one, at least in the sense I feel much freer to share family-related content through that channel without creating too much noise for people. It’s time I did the same on the professional front, and I just don’t need a dedicated long-form blog to do that anymore. I’ve been guest posting into BostInno and OnStartups more lately, and plan to do more of that going forward.

My next post will dig into all of this a bit more deeply, both in terms of what’s changed lately in the socialsphere, and how I’m trying to take advantage of it with more impact and less effort. Please join me on the new site, and – as always – thanks for listening.

Mike: Interesting thinking behind the decision. I figured out a while ago that I was destined NOT to be a hub, the question is will I work on carrying on as a spoke? (As you are by contributing to other hubs. Best of luck to you.
